Health through yoga
Author: Mira Mehta
Everyone knows that yoga is good for health, but few know why. This volume is a tool for those who want to know or deepen Iyengar yoga. The author does not limit herself to presenting sequences of postures (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranayama) according to the method of BKS Iyengar, a student of Krishnamacharya and one of the greatest authorities in the field of yoga, but explains to the reader why these exercises work. The book consists of three parts: a description of the basic principles of Ayurveda, functional to the understanding of yogic practice; an illustrated practical manual of asana and pranayama sequences; finally an anthology of passages taken from ancient classical texts that introduce the philosophy at the base of yoga.
