The happiest man in the world: this is how Matthieu Ricard (ex-biologist of the Pasteur Institute and Buddhist monk) is called by his fellow scientists who, studying his brain, found that 30 years of meditation have atrophied the areas responsible for depression making those of well-being are much more active than normal. “Meditating - explains Ricard - is aiming at a state of lucidity, compassion and immense inner peace from which to face difficulties; thought, word and action are therefore always adequate, and therefore a source of good for oneself and for others, rather than stress ”.
