Geshe Tenzin Tenphel - Heart Sutra
What is the ultimate view of reality in the Buddha's teaching?
To understand absolute reality it is important to first have an idea of relative, conventional reality. Perceptions, sensations, discriminations and external objects, therefore the reality that surrounds us, exist in an interdependent way: this is the aspect of relative truth.
The understanding of absolute truth, which is expressed with the term "emptiness" (in Sanskrit. "Suniata"), needs a deeper reflection. Reflection on the emptiness of phenomena is the most effective method to definitively cut the roots of conditioned existence and develop the perfection of wisdom, the heart of all practice.
