Focusing is a powerful and revolutionary technique of psychosomatic self-therapy, which relies on the inner, profound wisdom of the body. (Our body and brain know far more than we normally get to consciousness.) With this method, personal problems are processed through a series of steps, each of which is signaled by a precise improvement of the somatic symptoms, or by the relaxation of a muscle tension. Focusing is not a conventional reformulation of the usual self-persuasion methods; it is a technique and at the same time a philosophy which, by listening to the inner wisdom of the body, teaches how to reach new potential, a new type of relationship and a new type of society beyond old roles and old models.
